Who Owns the City?

This video explains in brief who owns Berlin. It dispels both the myth about the friendly, small-scale private landlord as a key player in the real estate market as well as the myth about property ownership being a form of universal social protection.

Renters often have no idea who is actually profiting from their rent, or who actually owns the building they live in. Especially if, for instance, the company name of the homeowner conceals an entire network of companies, while the real owners hide their bank accounts in tax havens. The project “Who owns the city?” examines the battles waged by corporations and their business practices, and offers an overview of the people that really own our city.
