FAQ: Flight and Displacement

Flight and displacement are global issues with various causes. Those who are displaced often seek a safer and more secure life. This FAQ aims to clarify the most important questions and terms related to these topics.

The causes of refugee movements stem from global structural inequalities. However, the focus is often placed solely on the consequences: war and violence, persecution and discrimination, poverty and lack of opportunities, climate change, and land grabbing. Rather than addressing its responsibility for these structural issues, the EU resorts to harsh isolation, border violence, and the disenfranchisement and criminalisation of those seeking protection.

This FAQ was originally written in German with a focus on Germany. We have translated it for people in Germany who do not speak German and for those interested outside of Germany.
